Speech recognition speaks many languages
Hermans-Wirix Advocaten is a young and dynamic law firm in Belgium with all staff in their thirties and forties. The firm consists of four lawyers and two administrative assistants who defend the interests of their clients in the field of commercial and corporate law. The firm is dedicated to entrepreneurs and has only business clients.
Mr Wirix has been dictating for about ten years. He first started with analog dictation using cassette tapes, then switched to digital dictation and recently also started to use speech recognition. He thinks one of the main advantages of digital dictation is the sound quality. The words are clear and comprehensible, and this is a great advantage for our administrative staff.
Adding speech recognition makes a difference
Mr Wirix recently also started to use speech recognition technology. Some time ago he was introduced to the Philips speech recognition software at the Tongeren Bar and did a test with it. “I read a text and my voice was recognized almost immediately. The text appeared almost correctly and perfectly on the screen, so I was hooked quite soon on the new Philips technology.”
The installation through the Philips certified partner, Marcel Heens Bureautique, went really well. They offered support for the configuration of the software program and also explained to us how to operate the hardware. Mr Wirix concludes: “Everything is so intuitive, so easy to control.” He has been using the Philips SpeechMike for some time now and he thinks it is really practical how he can easily switch from digital dictation to speech recognition by one push of the button.

Hermans-Wirix Advocaten est un bureau d’avocats jeune et dynamique où ne travaillent que des trentenaires et des quadragénaires. Comptant quatre avocats et deux collaborateurs administratifs, ce bureau plaide dans des affaires de droit commercial et des sociétés. Il ne compte que des entreprises parmi sa clientèle.
Maître Wirix fait déjà de la dictée depuis une dizaine d’années. Il a commencé avec un système analogique sur cassette, puis il est passé à la dictée numérique. Depuis quelques mois, il utilise également la reconnaissance vocale. La qualité sonore est l’un des principaux avantages de la dictée numérique. La dictée est claire, ce qu’apprécient nos employés.
Simplicité d’utilisation de la reconnaissance vocale
Depuis peu, maître Wirix utilise aussi la technologie de reconnaissance vocale. Il y a quelque temps, il a découvert et testé le logiciel de reconnaissance vocale de Philips au barreau de Tongres. « Je devais lire un texte. Ma voix a été reconnue presque directement. Le texte s’est bien affiché à l’écran, pratiquement sans faute. J’ai donc assez vite été conquis par cette nouvelle technologie de Philips. »
L’installation par Marcel Heens Bureautique, distributeur de Philips, s’est très bien déroulée. Ils ont offert une aide à la configuration des logiciels et ont aussi donné des explications sur l’utilisation du matériel. « C’est très intuitif, explique maître Wirix, l’utilisation est assez simple. » Il utilise également le SpeechMike de Philips. Il trouve pratique de pouvoir basculer aisément de la dictée numérique à la reconnaissance vocale en appuyant sur un bouton.

Tongerse advocaten Hermans-Wirix voegen spraakherkenning toe in hun dagelijkse workflow
Hermans-Wirix Advocaten is een jong en dynamisch advocatenkantoor waar enkel dertigers en veertigers werken. Het kantoor telt 4 advocaten en 2 adminstratieve medewerkers en zij behartigen belangen in de sfeer van het handelsrecht en vennootschapsrecht. Zij zijn een kantoor voor ondernemers en hebben enkel bedrijfscliënteel.
Meester Wirix dicteert al ongeveer tien jaar. Eerst begon hij met het analoog dicteren met cassettebandjes, is daarna overgestapt naar digitaal dicteren en gebruikt sinds enkele maanden ook spraakherkenning. Een van de belangrijkste voordelen van digitaal dicteren vind hij dan ook de geluidskwaliteit. Het dictaat is helder en duidelijk, en dit is zeker niet onbelangrijk voor de bedienden.
Spraakherkenning eenvoudig in gebruik
Sinds kort werkt Meester Wirix ook met spraakherkenningstechnologie. Enige tijd geleden had hij op de Balie van Tongeren kennis gemaakt met de spraakherkenningssoftware van Philips en hiermee een test gedaan. “Ik moest een tekst inlezen en mijn stem werd vrijwel onmiddellijk herkend. De tekst verscheen quasi foutloos en perfect op het scherm, dus ik was vrij snel verkocht voor die nieuwe technologie van Philips.”
De installatie via de verdeler van Philips, Marcel Heens Bureautique, verliep heel vlot. Zij boden ondersteuning bij het instellen van de softwareprogramma’s en gaven ook uitleg over de bediening van de hardware. Maar Meester Wirix besluit: “Alles wijst zichzelf uit, het is een vrij eenvoudige bediening.” Hij gebruikt al even de SpeechMike van Philips en vindt het praktisch dat hij eenvoudig kan switchen van digitaal dicteren naar spraakherkenning via één druk op de knop.
