Exploring the legal tech at Legalweek 2024
Legalweek 2024, the most anticipated event for legal professionals, recently concluded last week in New York, leaving attendees buzzing with excitement and brimming with innovative ideas. Philips Dictation was thrilled to be a part of this grand event and exhibit alongside our Philips Certified Partner DictationOne. With a commitment to revolutionizing the way legal professionals manage their documentation tasks, we were able to offer attendees advanced speech-to-text solutions specifically tailored to the legal industry.
Our expert, Matt Colona was a part of the multi-day event and we wanted to know more about his experience at the show. Dive in to learn more.
How was your experience at the event?
My experience at Legalweek 2024 was incredible. It was one of the most crowded events I’ve been to in years, with standing room only for the workshops. I was able to attend a couple of workshops on issues that broadened my understanding of legal technology. The workshops I attended were educational and insightful. Our booth traffic was very strong. Overall, the event was well-organized, interesting, and successful.
Anything new that stood out or caught your attention?
The buzz this year was around artificial intelligence (AI). Most sessions were AI-focused and how it can be useful for legal firms, how can it be incorporated into applications to improve productivity, and how to get the best out of future AI investments while keeping up with security.
What was your biggest takeaway from the event? Any key learnings?
Many of the attendees I met with were seeking ways to improve their everyday productivity and wanted to learn how AI might help them. I was able to learn about the challenges that legal professionals face, not limited to, the daunting task of managing vast amounts of information, from client consultations to courtroom proceedings, all while striving to maintain accuracy and efficiency. Speech recognition was a popular subject among participants since it allowed them to save documentation time. Attendees were looking for ways to automate their tasks where we could showcase the strengths of our SpeechLive cloud solution.
Anything fun at Legalweek?
Bryan Cranston, star of the popular television program Breaking Bad, was the opening keynote speaker. He got the audience excited and told some wonderful tales. We discussed how crucial perseverance and hard work are in achieving life objectives and how one must be passionate about them. The role of a lawyer he played on Hill Street Blues gave him experience with the law. Many in the audience could relate to that 80’s TV show including myself.
They also had a drink created in his honor during the event. It was dubbed the Cranston and was made with his Dos Hombres mezcal, cranberry juice, Aperol, and a dash of club soda. Quite tasty I must say.
As Legalweek 2024 came to a close, I was able to learn more about the legal technology landscape and educate attendees about our innovative dictation and transcription solutions. With advanced speech recognition, seamless integration, enhanced mobility, and robust data security, Philips SpeechLive equips legal professionals with the tools they need to thrive in today’s fast-paced legal environment.
