Highlights from an inspiring event – ALA 2024 Annual Conference & Expo
ALA 2024 Annual Conference & Expo, the premier event for legal management professionals, took place in Denver, Colorado from May 19–22 at the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center. Philips Dictation was exhibiting at booth 125 and our team had a great time networking with industry professionals and learning about the latest tech from the legal management community. We spoke to our sales team, Matt, Caroline, Yvonne and Mike to learn more about their experience at the event.
How was your overall experience at the event?
Caroline: We had a lot of ALA members and visitors visiting our booth to greet and welcome us. One could tell that they were curious to meet us and learn more about our business solutions. The event organizers did a wonderful job, and the venue was great. Our booth was well set up and at a great location in the exhibit hall. Most importantly, the traffic at the event was terrific and kept us occupied throughout the day.
Was there anything that stood out or caught your attention?
Matt: Attendees were eager to learn more about our speech-to-text solutions and expressed keen interest in what we were offering. We understood that there is widespread use of technology within all legal firms we spoke to and were impressed with the office admins’ knowledge of current systems and requirements in use across the legal industry.
Mike: Throughout the show, I was able to connect with many business partners who also exhibited at the show. From an integration perspective, it was a very positive experience. Many showcased interest in possible cooperation and wanted to learn more about the new Philips SpeechLive API to connect different platforms.
What did you learn from your conversations at the show?
Yvonne: After visiting our booth, many attendees realized the tremendous potential of Philips Speechlive’s backend speech recognition capabilities. The availability of multi-speaker speech recognition also stirred a lot of interest and was seen as very beneficial to drive productivity in creating meeting transcripts. The support of speaker diarization when sending dictations to speech recognition allows users to record meetings with up to 10 speakers. The user will then receive a transcript that accounts for the different speakers. Competitor customers were also very open to learning where we differ and expressed the desire to migrate. Many firms were seeking new tools to increase task automation and were open to exploring new ideas like speech recognition for their teams.
Mike: In conversations with document management system providers I found that they see great benefits in leveraging the Philips SpeechLive workflow as part of their solution.
What was your biggest takeaway from the event?
Caroline: This event was definitely worth our time and investment. We are now looking forward to the follow-up conversations with the attendees and scheduling individual demo requests.
Mike: The legal market is ripe for consolidation and actively looking for integrated enterprise platforms for practice and document management. The focus for us clearly lies in further establishing relationships and integration opportunities with other vendors to provide the best user experience.
We would like to thank all our Bose mini-Bluetooth speaker winners who booked and showed up for a demo at our booth. It was great seeing so many smiling faces.

In conclusion, it was a wonderful opportunity for us to network and collaborate with industry experts and the legal community, learn more about the legal industry needs, and how our solutions can help transform this industry. It has been a great week at ALA 2024, showcasing the latest in dictation technology that empowers legal professionals to go from voice to text with unparalleled accuracy and efficiency.
