ILTACON 2024 Recap: Legal Technology and Innovation Highlights

The leading educational and networking event for the legal industry took place from August 11-15, 2024 in the vibrant city of Nashville, TN, and huge crowds flocked to the exhibit hall. Our team was ready to welcome all visitors at booth #844 and had a chance to meet many of our valued customers, prospects, and industry experts. We asked Matt, Caroline, Mike, and Alex to share their experiences.

What did you enjoy most this year at ILTACON?

Matt: This year’s exhibit proved to be a resounding success, bringing together the brightest minds in legal technology and innovation. The conference featured an impressive lineup of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and workshops, all focused on the latest trends and advancements in the legal industry. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with leading experts on topics ranging from artificial intelligence and cybersecurity to digital transformation and data privacy.

Caroline: This was one of the most well-organized events we attended. The booth traffic was great and many delegates stopped to chat and learn about voice technologies next big things. We’d also like to point out that the ILTACON organizers did a great job in managing the event and taking care of the attendees as well as the business partners.

Was there anything that stood out or caught your attention?

Matt: A major highlight of the event was the announcement of the integration of Philips SpeechLive with iManage and Dragon Legal Anywhere. This seamless integration offers a powerful combination for legal professionals, allowing them to share audio files, transcripts, and photos directly with the iManage system. Using Dragon Legal Anywhere advanced speech recognition capabilities, you can transfer voice into text immediately, for example to create emails, or send a ready voice recording to the cloud to receive an instant first draft text. Attendees saw the benefits of such integrations: Saving time and allowing for consistency in record keeping by connecting platforms. Building an ecosystem with partners like iManage aims to streamline document creation, improve workflow efficiency, and enhance collaboration, all while ensuring robust security and compliance.

Mike: AI was the buzzword for all legal professionals. The legal sector is dominated by a handful of vendors and it will soon show who will have a strategy for AI-powered solutions supporting use cases that matter for law firms.

Alex: Many Document and Case Management System providers showcased their APIs that sparked interesting integration opportunities. As mentioned before, AI was the topic of interest for almost all exhibitors and attendees – mainly focusing on out-of-the-box offerings with OpenAI.

What did you learn from your conversations at the show?

Caroline: Many firms are still looking to upgrade from on-premises server-based infrastructure to the cloud. Speech recognition was also well received and what matters most is the ease of use with it being a part of a complete workflow solution. Overall, attendees were looking for better efficiency.

Matt: IT professionals at the conference were particularly vocal about the shift from traditional server-based systems to cloud platforms, emphasizing the benefits of scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness. The integration of SpeechLive, iManage, and Dragon Legal Anywhere aligns perfectly with this trend, offering a cloud-based solution that meets the growing demand for flexible, remote access to legal documents and efficient management tools.

Alex: It was a learning experience educating attendees on our upcoming AI features and presenting a long-term roadmap. Showcasing the progress of further enhancements to the Philips SpeechLive platform was also very well received. The team loved building long-term relationships with new and existing customers as well as fostering future business partnerships for technology integrations.

What was your biggest takeaway from the event?

Matt: Overall, ILTACON delivered an enriching experience, offering a glimpse into the future of legal technology and equipping attendees with the knowledge and tools needed to drive innovation in their organizations. The energy and enthusiasm were palpable, making this year’s conference a memorable one.

Alex: Advanced AI features like speech-to-result will be the future and we are excited to play a part in that with Philips SpeechLive.
