This year, we had the opportunity to exhibit at the State Bar of Texas Annual Meeting 2025 which took place in San Antonio, Texas on June 19-20. What were the key learnings from this event?
One of the biggest takeaways was realizing how much time Texas lawyers still spend manually typing out notes, casework, and documentation. There is a growing appreciation, and even excitement, around tools like Philips SpeechLive, especially its multi-speaker dictation capabilities and the new AI features. These innovations address a major pain point and offer a real opportunity to streamline legal workflows.
How was your overall experience?
State Bar of Texas was a fantastic experience. It provided us a unique window into the evolving legal landscape in Texas. We connected with attorneys at various stages of their careers, from new graduates to seasoned professionals with decades of service. It was encouraging to see the growing interest in integrating modern technology into legal practice.
Anything new that stood out or caught your attention during the event?
What really stood out was the warmth and friendliness of the Texas legal community. Everyone was genuinely kind and welcoming. A particularly memorable moment was speaking with the Honorable Judge Roy Brantley of Brazos County, a fellow Texas A&M alumnus from the Class of 1981. He has dedicated his career to public service and proudly showed us his custom Texas A&M cowboy boots. It was a great example of the pride and tradition that defines the Texas spirit.
What was your biggest takeaway from the event?
It became clear that while legal professionals are open to adopting technology, there are still many areas where tools are underutilized. Multi-speaker dictation is gaining popularity for depositions, client meetings, and other use cases. Professionals are not just looking for transcription, but also for tools that help identify key takeaways and objectives. There is strong momentum toward making work easier and more efficient.
